THE IXIAN GRAND ALL SUITES // RHODES
Hello you lovely lot!
Dare I say it but I feel like we are nearing the end of summer 🙁 So I hope you are all having a great one and enjoy what is left!
Now some of you might be experiencing the “Holiday Blues” at the moment like myself and if you aren’t I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. I’ve been back in the UK a couple weeks and writing this post right now has taken my holiday blues to the next level 🙁 “Take me back” as they say LOL.
Anyway, lets get to it I can’t put off making my holiday blues any worse for any longer so here goes…After visiting Greece a few times before in the past I was finally heading back after being invited to experience a week at the stunning Sentido Ixian Grand All Suites which is in a part of Greece I’d never been to before…Rhodes.
Now this is where my Holiday Blues will well and truly kick in as I go over what is to date my best and most relaxing trip! After the three and a half hour flight I landed at the Rhodes airport and was greeted by a taxi and a sign with my name on, all ready and waiting to take my bags from me and drive me to The Ixian Grand which is located perfectly on the west coast of Rhodes and only a 10 minute drive from the hotel, now I’m sure I’m talking for a lot of people here when I say the last thing we all want is a long ass transfer from airport to hotel, so this was a good start to my trip already.
After my short drive in a very nice Mercedes taxi I arrived at The Ixian Grand and was greeted by a staff member to take my bags from me and I must say that really did set the tone for the rest of the week as the staff were absolutely phenomenal throughout my stay, so, so kind and they really did treat me like royalty. I was then taken down through the beautifully laid out modern lobby area past the bar and down to the All Suites reception area where I checked in and was then taken down further to my room and at this point I was very excited to see what I would be calling home for the next week…
OMG! Was my exact reaction as I entered my room and through a long white netted curtain all I could see was the colour blue, a view that I can honestly say I would never get bored of waking too! The sea view room with private pool and a cooly designed wooden decking area really does leave you smiling from ear to ear when you arrive and being honest, it did the whole time I was there. After seeing what my room had to offer including the incredibly comfortable king size bed (probably the comfiest I’ve slept in), checked out the lovely gifts the hotel had left me I entered the bathroom where I was blown away AGAIN by realising I would be able to take in the extraordinary view whilst laying in the jacuzzi bath and not forgetting whilst having a glass of champagne in hand. You can see the little touches of roses in photos below and that was something the hotel kept going all week as I would come back to my room every evening after some fine dining and find a rose on my pillow with a little treat of chocolate. A really nice touch.
Is there really anything else you want to be seeing in the summer other than clear blue skies (I honestly didn’t see one cloud all week), beautifully clear sea waters and the sparkles in your pool from the sun? I think not! I spent all day every day at my pool trying to soak up as much sun as possible and I really had no need to go anywhere else as throughout the day the incredible staff would bring me fresh fruits, drinks, naughty little treats and you can even get room service and have the breakfast of your dreams delivered to your room, I was seriously spoilt. There is actually a pool bar a minute walk where you can get yourself drinks and light snacks too if you feel like doing that but as I mentioned I spent all my time on my pools decking area, relaxing in the pool. I even got given a lilo by a kind lady as a gift for having a photo with her son who noticed me from following me on instagram, it was the first time out of england that had happened so that was pretty a cool to experience too 🙂
If I wasn’t having my breakfast sent to my poolside in the mornings I would make the 5 second walk to the All Suites breakfast buffet exclusively to the All Suite guests and endulge in a spread that will have your mouth watering as soon as you place your eyes on it, not only is the buffet pleasing on the eye but the marble throughout the restaurant is very impressive and the floor I would love in my house, it’s an Instagrammers dream all that marble LOL. The staff again were amazing and really made the breakfast experience extra special with their happy personalties and conversations, you really get the vibe that they love their jobs bringing you freshly squeezed orange juice, choices of coffee or tea and they would even go get you fried eggs cooked as they only offer scrambled eggs in the buffet. Mornings like no other!
Continuing the fine dining from breakfast you can get yourself a table in the evening to experience their 5 course meal and I can’t forget to mention the sea view which in the morning is something but when the sun is setting in the evenings its a real treat. The food itself is also something special taste wise and how it is presented to you by your special waiter service. One thing I will say is make sure you pack yourself some trousers/jeans as shorts are not part of the dress code for gentlemen in the evenings in the restaurants which I liked as it gives you the opportunity to really dress well for your evening meals.
This restaurant is located by the main pool and you have the choice of a table inside or a table outside and I went with having my dinner at one of the outside tables which was perfect in the evening as it is still a nice temperature, you can see the sun setting over the sea and the lights inside the pools really set the mood. Mainly serving meats and greek dishes the Milonges is ideal if you fancy a steak night and I must say the steak I had was absolutely delicious. Presentation and service once again of extremely high standard.
Now have you ever felt like you could still keep eating after your 3 course meal? Or even your 5 course meal? Well the Degu7 is the restaurant for you as they serve a 7 course meal which I somehow managed to demolish. I say “somehow” as I was expecting to go for a 7 course meal and each plate would be a very small portion but as you can probably tell from the photos below they really aren’t that small and it really isn’t a bad thing! Set beautifully with a small pool view and sparkling ceiling the mood is something special.
Rhodes Old Town
As it was my first time in Rhodes I felt like I had to go and do a little bit of exploring and see some more of Rhodes itself, so as difficult as it was to pull myself away from life of luxury at the Ixian Grand I got in a taxi and took the 15 minute drive along the coast and into the Old Town which I had heard so many good things about. I was dropped off and I made my way through the markets and headed to the harbour, so many different shops, places to eat/drink and so many instagrammable places to take photos I would strongly recommend taking a trip into the old town if you get a chance especially if you are wanting to get some cool little presents to take back for family and friends, it’s ideal for that. The harbour was so nice too it was a really hot day (like every other day) so getting to the harbour and feeling a bit of a breeze in your face was nice especially after the hustle and bustle through the markets, the harbour provides more places to stop and eat with views of lots of boats and yachts which really made me want a yacht and if I ever get one I’ve decided I’m calling it ‘Yacht Are You Looking At?’ LOL!
So as I was in the All Suites section of the Ixian Grand and loved it so much I didn’t spend much time in the main part of the hotel but from what I saw the main pool is a very cool design with again the wooden decking section in the centre which really does look great, located on the beach front the vibe is very chilled with lots of people relaxing and making the most of the sun and with it being an adults only hotel you can understand why it really does have that relaxing luxury vibe about it. The Vis A Vis restaurant is the main buffet restaurant for guests and I had to go experience it and once again I can say I was seriously impressed they host a different variety of food every night keeping the elegant theme throughout the hotel with its no shorts for the gents again. I actually had dinner here a couple times as I was so impressed with the variety of food and the view it offers of palm trees, main pool and sea view sunset. Absolutely spot on!
Take it from me this hotel is the real deal in Rhodes and I am honoured to have been asked to go and experience what they have to offer. A massive thank you to Stergos for organising my trip to the beautiful Ixian Grand and to all the incredible staff that really made my stay as wonderful as it was. 🙂
