MY NEWMARKET EXPERIENCE // MOET & CHANDON FESTIVAL
Hi guys, I hope all is well!
Well its been a busy start to July for me which is never a bad thing but I really would like it to actually start feeling like summer (sighs).
Anyway to why I am here, 2016 is a year of celebration for the home of horse racing as they celebrate their 350th anniversary and I was kindly invited along to Newmarket to join in with the celebrations.
So two weeks prior to the main event which was the Moet & Chandon July Festival I was invited along to Newmarket AKA the home of horse racing and to visit firstly a home grown suit shop in the name of Goldings to get my outfit for the main day picked out and tailored down to perfection. We started off by talking about what I was wanting and having a look at a few options and then I was measured to make sure I was getting the perfect fit, after trying on a few different styles I finally came across THE blazer which was a dark navy with these beautiful gold detailed buttons on the cuffs and front with a uniquely designed lapel and pockets, as it was quite a statement jacket with a real royal detailed feel I wanted to pair it with a cream pair of trousers, light blue shirt and burgundy patterned tie, which when you see the outfit later in this post I think you will agree that it worked quite well. The grey jacket you can see me wearing below is just a jacket they used to get my measurements.
After we had decided on my outfit for the event I was given a quick tour of Goldings and to meet some of the tailors that work up stairs on their machines who would be altering my blazer for me, the main thing really was to make the sleeves longer which they did so well.
I was then taken for lunch and to visit the incredible Jockey Clubrooms to be given a tour and to learn all about the history and heritage of the Newmarket Races. Its like another world when you enter the Jockey Clubrooms from the high street and I was blown away be all the art work on the walls which were worth millions and millions of pounds! I got to hold one of the very first trophys made for the races, saw the hoof of the most decorated horse of all time and even felt like I was in a bond film when an enormous painting started to scroll up to reveal a plasma television, it was crazy!
A couple weeks after I had my day in newmarket I was back again for the day I had been looking forward to LADIES DAY at the Moet & Chandon Festival at the Newmarket Racecourse and what an amazing day it was. I was kindly picked up once again and dropped off at the VIP entrance where I picked up my tickets and in I went. Immediately you could see the effort everyone had put into their outfits! I made my way down to the Champions Lawn area where I spent the rest of my day with the best picnic I have ever had and lots of champagne was drank. I met the lovely AJ Odudu in the champions lawn too which was great to chat all about each others work and future projects, she was so nice and really enjoyed spending the day in her company. The atmosphere was buzzing all day watching the races, placing bets and meeting great people. I had that much fun the day flew past and it was time to head home before I even knew it.
Thank you to Sandra at MischiefPR for organising both days for me 🙂 Photos all taken on an iPhone as I sadly didn’t have my camera, but I can’t knock the quality iPhone cameras produce.
Chez 🙂 x
